Natural History Museum, Finland
Branding, Website Design
Established in 1988, the Natural History Museum of Finland holds the countries' largest botanical, zoological, geological and paleontological collections.
Situated over three sites in Helsinki, a museum and two botanical gardens, all three are open to the public, with the museum predominantly used as a research hub for public information and educational purposes.
The museum and gardens needed a brand refresh to work across all three sites and encourage a wider demographic of visitors, for cultural and educational purposes, not just research activities.
Natural History Museum Building
Change in the Air Exhibition Poster
Drawing inspiration from the museum building, extracting forms and shapes from the architectural details, in particular the windows and combining these shapes with the letters NHM (Natural History Museum). I designed a contemporary logo that pays tribute to the heritage of the building and brand.

Website Design for NHMF
The structure of the glasshouse and the window frames and mullions inspired the layout grid for all design collateral. The website design needed to incorporate all three sites of the museum so navigation needed to clear and intuitive. One single drop down menu and a continuous vertical scroll. The brighter colour palette was inspired by nature and chosen to inspire and attract a younger audience.
