Benedict Butterworth Ltd

Packaging Design, Illustration

Wine label designs for London based wine importer and restauranteur, Benedict Butterworth. Benedict wanted something new, something trippy, a wine label like no other inspired by long, balmy summer days and nights in the South of France.

The labels were designed using cuttings and snippets from photographs, layered up to create digital collages.

‘Pif Rouge’ refers to the red nose of a man who's seen his fair share of red wine over the years. This is a real vin de soif red from the olden days. A Bordeaux that propped up soldiers and labourers throughout the centuries. 70% Merlot, 20% Cab-Sav and 10% Cab-Franc, with a modest 6 months in old American oak barrels.

Vin Blanc is a blend of 70% Sauvignon and 30% Sémillon, grown on gravelly-clay soils. Aromatically, the profile of the sauvignon shines, but balanced by the zesty, salty Sémillon, which softens the acidity of the wine with an oily texture.

Bien A-Rosé meaning ‘well-watered’ or ‘irrigated’, in this case referring, not to the vine, but to the drinker. It's a light, juicy and smashable rosé with refreshing acidity and a clean, crisp finish. An easy-pleaser, blended from 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
